shape of a soul 2008-2010
My grandmothers passed away one after another in 2008. I was in the crematory. The sight of smoke made me wonder if human
soul existed- and if it did, what shape it might take. In 2010 I got permission to build a system to collect the smoke of burningbody
in a crematorium of Jingjiang city. The collected smoke was blown through hot glass, it molded a glassware and disappeared
into the air.I called the result"shape of a soul".
2008年我的外婆和奶奶相继去世。我在外婆火化的现场，看着烟升起散去，我想如果人有灵魂，她的形状会是怎样？2010年夏天，我在得到靖江市殡仪馆的许可后，于馆内布置了一个临时的装置来吸收和保存逝者火化时的烟气。接着用这烟气来吹制玻璃器，烟气在塑造完形状后离去。这个玻璃器我称为灵魂的形状。
